Today: Go Out And Conquer

Today, I want you to think about something:

What if… you told yourself that you actually CAN?

What would change? Imagine today is the day you stop doubting yourself. What would your day look like?

I was so tired of allowing myself to be mediocre, of tearing myself down and continually telling myself “I can’t.” I believe because I was putting out that negative energy, it was coming back to me tenfold. My father used to always tell me to keep positive. When I was younger, I could never understand how he simply brushed the negatives off as if they never existed. As I get older, I realize he was not brushing them off. He acknowledged them, appreciated them and then found a way to turn them around.

Fitness shows me that everything I want is possible when I knock out self-doubt. When you are in the midst of a struggle it is hard to see the good, but trust that something good will grow from that bad place.

My fitness journey started in 2011 on the indoor track of my college’s gym. After graduating college and running my first race I allowed myself to simply give up. I was too scared to join a new gym, and I feared running outside in my neighborhood because people knew me and I did not work out in my apartment because it was small, etc. etc. I got back into running (and joined the gym!) in 2012 when I started working at a local running store. I wasn’t as consisted as I wanted because before work I was too tired to workout, and after work I was even more tired and plus I really wanted to spend time with my boyfriend, etc. etc. It was not until 2013 when I broke up with my then boyfriend that I decided I needed to do something constructive. Something for me.

I started spinning. Then I started running again (and ran my 2nd and 3rd half-marathon!) Then I started weight lifting (the first time since college!) and I found that not only could I do it, I enjoyed it!

When I work around the negatives, I start to see these great changes happening! And I want to encourage you to do the same.

Do not worry about whether or not it will be easy, or fast, or even if it will be a mistake. The nice thing about life is that you never know where a path may lead and you could be passing up a great opportunity because you are scared to do something wrong. Forget all about that.

Today, tell yourself you can.

Tell yourself you can and then go out and conquer!
